GoAir becomes the first airline to commence evening operations from Srinagar

-Inaugural Flight flagged off by Chief Minister, Jammu & Kashmir

GoAir to serve Delhi-Srinagar 5 times nonstop, Srinagar-Delhi 6 times nonstop

June 16, 2016, Srinagar:

GoAir has become the first airline in India to operate evening flight from Srinagar International Airport. The inaugural flight, G8 228 to New Delhi, was flagged off from Srinagar yesterday evening at 6:40 pm by Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir in presence of, Mr. Farooq Shah, Secretary Tourism, Jammu & Kashmir and GoAir CEO, Wolfgang Prock-Schauer.

There was a long standing demand from local authorities, leisure travelers and various trade organizations for operating flights post 6 pm in the valley. This new flight will help ensuring that Srinagar remains accessible to both business and leisure travelers on evenings too. GoAir has direct connectivity to Srinagar from New Delhi and Mumbai. Apart from these two cities, GoAir has indirect convenient connectivity from 12 other cities to Srinagar.

At the flag off ceremony, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, remarked ”The Airport Authority of India  and Indian Air Force, on the request of the state government, have agreed to allow flight operations from Srinagar Airport up to 10 pm and the operators should now take advantage of this extended flight operation timing especially in the summer season, when there is maximum tourist inflow to Kashmir. Our government is working with various airlines and the Centre to connect Srinagar and Jammu airports with other cities of the country through direct flights and also start international flights from Srinagar airport.”

Commenting on the occasion, GoAir CEO, Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said, “Srinagar has always been a focus city for us. We are pleased to open evening flights from Srinagar which will help officials and businessmen transiting between Srinagar and Delhi. For leisure travelers, this schedule will provide greater choice and flexibility as they can now spend more time in the valley. With this new flight, GoAir will now serve Srinagar to Delhi 6 times non-stop thereby allowing quick and convenient connections to customers.”

Tickets for the flight are now open and can be booked through the company website, www.Goair.in or online travel portals, GoAir Call Centre, airport ticketing offices, through travel agents and the GoAir   that is available on both Apple iOS and Google Android. Passengers will be required to download the latest version of the App to be able to make the bookings.
