Mumbai, June 09 2016:
GoAir announced the arrival of its first commercial A320 NEO flight, G8 336, that landed on the evening of June 8 at 16:20 at Mumbai International Airport. With this flight, GoAir becomes the first airline to use A320 NEO in Spaceflex configuration with 186 seats without compromising on the passenger leg room and comfort. This configuration will also enable better service and availability during peak season for the travelers.
GoAir decided to forgo the customary water cannon salute on arrival at Mumbai to avoid unnecessary wastage of water. The arriving passengers were welcomed by the GoAir CEO along with senior officials of Airbus, Pratt & Whitney and SMBC Capital. The passengers were pleasantly surprised at the rousing welcome at the airport on arrival and expressed satisfaction about the onboard experience in this inaugural flight.
Speaking on the occasion, Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, CEO, GoAir said, “It is a momentous occasion and GoAir is delighted to welcome all passengers in the inaugural NEO flight. With the induction of the first of our 72 NEO aircraft on order, we have reached a fleet strength of 20 aircraft. With this expansion, we will be able to strengthen our domestic network and will also be available to fly on international routes."
The A320 NEO is configured in a comfortable layout and is equipped with the innovative Spaceflex cabin concepts making even more efficient use of the available space. The A320neo “new engine option” incorporates a host of innovations, including latest generation engines and large Sharklet wing-tip devices. These allow for 15 percent in fuel savings from day one and 20 percent by 2020. This is equivalent to a reduction of 5,000 tonnes of CO2 per aircraft per year.
