2021 has begun with a positive start with the COVID-19 vaccine getting rolled out across the world. At the same time, the number of COVID-19 cases are also on the rise. With the erstwhile lockdowns being relaxed, more people are once again stepping out. While it helps to regain a sense of normalcy by going back to the way things were, we must not forget to continue to take precaution.
It has been said that prevention is better than cure; this saying holds true now more than ever. To that effect, here are some important COVID 19 safety tips to keep in mind.
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water. Rub your hands with soap on the palms, on the back, and under the nails for at least 20 seconds. Never touch your eyes, mouth, or nose prior to washing your hands.
In case soap and water are unavailable, make use of a hand sanitizer to disinfect instead. Squeeze a small amount of sanitizer onto your palms and rub it across the entire surface of your hands, on the front and at the back. A good hand sanitizer should have at least 60% alcohol. Carry a small pocket-sized hand sanitizer with you at all times, especially when you step out of the house.
It is important to regularly disinfect surfaces around your home and at work. Surfaces that should be disinfected include door knobs, handles, door bells, computer keyboards, toilet taps, and other similar objects that are touched frequently.
Ensure that you wear a face mask at all times. A mask can protect you from droplets emitted by people speaking or sneezing around you. Make sure that you wear the face mask properly so that it covers your mouth and nose entirely.
When in public, make sure to stand at least 6 feet away from the nearest person. Adhere to social distancing markers, if they are placed. Avoid holding parties, get-togethers, or any other social gatherings even if it’s just at home. Stay apart; stay safe. Connect with your loved ones virtually so that you all stay protected.
